Sustainable Development Goals
Focusing on Five Goals for Maximum ImpactThe Klosterfrau Group aligns its efforts with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This allows the company to systematically fulfill its corporate responsibility and develop concrete, effective sustainability initiatives. These goals provide a shared understanding of sustainability and will guide our future actions.
To achieve the greatest impact, we focus on five goals in which the Klosterfrau Group can make a tangible and measurable difference:
Five goals

Health and Wellbeing
(SDG 3)As a company, we contribute daily to improving the well-being of people worldwide. The backbone of Klosterfrau is its dedicated and skilled employees who are committed to advancing the company every day. Therefore, it is only natural to prioritize this stakeholder group. Our second stakeholder group is the many partners who purchase our products and are involved directly or indirectly; without them, Klosterfrau could not pursue its goals as ambitiously.
Gender Equality
(SDG 5)We are committed to equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion, and we create an environment that actively promotes these values. Gender equality is not just a goal for us; it is a practice we live by.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
(SDG 8)We take a development-oriented approach with a regional focus, supporting nonprofit organizations and promoting our employees in the long term.
Responsible Consumption and Production
(SDG 12)We focus on the sustainable use of natural resources, integrating environmental protection into all our business activities. From sourcing raw materials to producing the final product, we apply circular thinking and sustainable practices.
Climate Action
(SDG 13)We strive for climate neutrality by using renewable and self-generated energy, reducing energy consumption, and improving energy efficiency. Our goal is to make an optimal contribution to climate protection.
By focusing on these five priorities, we can take concrete measures and achieve measurable progress toward a more sustainable future.

Green electricity from our own photovoltaic systems
Renewable Energy
Green Power from Our Own RooftopsThe Klosterfrau Group is taking concrete steps toward achieving climate neutrality. Conscious resource management and the use of alternative energy sources are key priorities. Two of our sites rely on self-generated solar power: Artesan in Lüchow and the Klosterfrau branch in Vienna produce green electricity through their own photovoltaic systems.
Artesan has accomplished a particularly ambitious project involving the installation of 2,863 solar modules, each with a peak output of 410 watts, on the roofs of production buildings and carports at plants 4.1 and 4.2. Under optimal conditions, the total capacity of 1,174 kWp can generate over one gigawatt-hour of energy per year, covering around 25 percent of the annual electricity needs of both Artesan sites.
The scale is impressive; the solar installation produces enough energy to power 450 four-person households for a year. At the same time, solar power directly supplies the wall boxes used for charging electric vehicles.
Since April 2023, Klosterfrau has produced its own solar power in Vienna. The 164 solar panels installed on the company’s rooftop generate approximately 73 megawatt hours per year. This equals about 1.5 times the current electricity consumption of the Austrian site.
These initiatives directly support Sustainable Development Goals 12 and 13: responsible consumption and production, and climate action. Using self-generated solar energy allows the Klosterfrau Group to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions and become less dependent on fossil fuels, thus making an important contribution to climate protection.
